A Polycrete ICF wall is composed of reinforced concrete of varying thicknesses with 5” of continuous Type II EPS insulation. The R value of the insulation is R20.4
For IECC / COMcheck purposes, a Polycrete wall is classified as a Mass Wall under C402.2.20
Please refer to IECC Chapter 4, Table C402.1.3 for the insulation R value required in your climate zone.
For climate zones 1 – 7, standard Polycrete Big Block ICFs exceed the code requirement for above grade mass walls and for below grade walls. For Zone 8, Polycrete Premium with Neopor or an R-Stak insert will be necessary.
